A Florida-based chicken tender chain is headed to Reston as part of a 60-restaurant national expansion, though residents will have to wait for details on exactly where and when.
Huey Magoo's, an Orlando chain founded in 2004, announced development agreements on Friday, Aug. 14, covering new locations in Reston, Herndon and Ashburn, according to Franchising.com. The three Northern Virginia restaurants are part of a broader deal awarding 60 new locations to eight franchise groups across eight states.
No addresses. No opening dates. The company provided neither for any of the three Virginia locations.
"Our objective has never been growth simply for the sake of growth," Andy Howard, president and CEO of Huey Magoo's Restaurants, said in the announcement. "We want to build great restaurants with great franchise partners in communities where Huey Magoo's can become a lasting part of the market."
The chain currently operates 92 restaurants across 13 states and expects to reach about 100 open locations by the end of 2026. More than 200 additional restaurants are in various stages of development nationwide.
Huey Magoo's menu centers on chicken tenderloins served as meals, sandwiches, wraps and salads, with 10 signature sauces. The chain also offers hand-spun chips, fresh coleslaw and banana pudding.
The company's announcement groups all three Northern Virginia locations under a single development agreement, suggesting one franchise group is taking on the Reston, Herndon and Ashburn markets. The operator has not been publicly named, and the franchise groups joining the brand range from first-time Huey Magoo's operators to experienced multi-unit restaurant owners, according to Patch.
No permits or site plans have surfaced in Fairfax County records for any of the three locations.
