A woman using a mobility device was struck and killed by a pickup truck at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Dart Drive in Hybla Valley on Thursday.

The crash happened at approximately 7:45 p.m. The driver of a 2026 Ford F-250 was turning right from Dart Drive onto northbound Richmond Highway when the woman, crossing Dart Drive from north to south, was hit, according to the FCPD Crash Reconstruction Unit.

She was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released.

The driver was not injured and remained at the scene. FCPD said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.

Fifth Fatal Pedestrian Crash Since Late May

The Hybla Valley crash is the fifth fatal pedestrian incident investigated by FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit since late May. In June, three people were killed in separate pedestrian crashes across Fairfax County in a single evening.

Two of these crashes occurred on Richmond Highway, a high-volume arterial road running through the Mount Vernon District.
