A comedy show and dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 7, will raise money to help veterans moving out of homelessness set up permanent homes.
The event, billed as "Veterans Fundraiser - Comedy for a Cause," takes place at the Compass & Anchor Club at Loudoun Elks Lodge #2406, 401 W. Holly Ave. in Sterling. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is served at 6 p.m. and the comedy show starts at 7 p.m., according to the event's listing on AllEvents.
Proceeds support the Elks National Veterans Service Commission's Welcome Home Program, which helps veterans transition into permanent housing. Comedian Ray Jubela promoted the show in an Instagram post, writing that Beer Run Comedy will perform at the lodge "to support Elks National Veterans Service Commission's Welcome Home Program."
Beer Run Comedy is a Washington, D.C.-area stand-up group led by Jubela and Steve Tracy, with comedian Ace Jackson also on the roster, according to the troupe's website.
The national Elks organization launched the Welcome Home grant program in 2016 to address veteran homelessness through a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to the Loudoun Elks Lodge website. The Sterling lodge lists helping local veterans among its core charitable activities.
Tickets are listed at $100 per person and include a full dinner and the comedy show. A cash bar will also be available. The Eventbrite checkout page lists general admission at $109, with a note that processing fees are paid by the purchaser. The event also appears on Reston Patch, posted by community member Shannon Charland.
The lodge is about a 15-minute drive west of Reston Town Center.
