Reston Association's Shadowood tennis courts are back open after crack repairs wrapped up this week.
The association announced Friday, Oct. 23, that the repair work is complete and the courts are officially reopened for play. The alert did not specify how long the courts had been closed or how many courts the Shadowood facility includes.
The reopening comes as part of a broader round of capital improvements across Reston Association (RA) facilities. Board meeting materials from May 28 listed a "Tennis Court Resurfacing" project in the planning stage with an expected completion date of October 2026. Those materials did not name Shadowood specifically, and it is unclear whether the resurfacing project and the crack repairs are the same work.
RA's capital projects list from the same board packet also included a pool renovation expected in August 2026, playground equipment replacement in the design phase, and pathway improvements in the bidding stage.
No cost figures for the crack repair work or details about the scope of the damage were included in the announcement. The alert did not name any RA staff members overseeing the project.
