Fairfax County Police detectives are asking Reston residents to help identify a man who robbed a woman in broad daylight at the intersection of Parcher Avenue and Springer Drive.

The robbery happened on June 20 at 2:44 p.m., according to a press release from the Reston District Station's Criminal Investigations Division. The victim was driving alone when the suspect approached her vehicle at the intersection and yelled at her, prompting her to pull over and roll down her window.

After a brief exchange, the man demanded money and threatened to harm her family. He then reached through the driver's side window and forcibly took cash from her hand before fleeing on foot. The suspect was gone before officers arrived.

The victim was not injured and told officers she did not know the suspect.

She described him as a dark-skinned Black male with long dreads, according to the FCPD release. Detectives released a composite sketch on Wednesday, June 24, four days after the incident. The sketch is available on the FCPD news website.

No arrest has been made.
