The Fairfax County Police Department is accepting applications for a free weeklong summer program that gives high school girls a hands-on look at law enforcement careers.

The "Future Women Leaders in Law Enforcement" program is open to all Northern Virginia girls entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the 2026-2027 school year. That includes Reston students at public, private or homeschool programs. The deadline to register is Wednesday, July 22.

Classes run Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the Fairfax County Public Safety Headquarters, 12099 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax.

The program is free, with a limited class size.

What the Program Covers

The curriculum includes patrol operations, crime scene investigations, leadership skills, the helicopter division, the recruiting process and sessions with women officers from across the department.

The department announced the program in a community events blog post on Thursday.
